Recent trends, not only waveriding but in all forms of self expression, have tended towards looking backwards in order to move forwards and our sport/lifestyle is no different. This is evidenced by the increasing popularity of SUP's, fish's, retro boards and various fin derivatives such as quads.

Recent global surfing publications have showcased an exciting new form of wave riding in the form of finless, thin wooden surfboards developed by Australian based American ex-pat, Tom Wegener. Tom has combined modern shaping technologies/ideologies with traditional raw materials and has resulted in the re-birth of the Alaia as a wave riding tool.
